What’s The Process

Mother’s wishing to donate their birth tissues through Cardinal Biologicals Inc. and Birth Gift should expect the following steps when they agree to donate. If the mother is aware of the program and wishes to donate simply inform your nurse of the decision and they will provide you with the necessary paperwork.

Pre-Registering On Birth Gift.org will help ensure your donation requests are met and a smooth process, but it is not mandatory. The following steps will occur either way.

1. 3 Documents to complete
   1. Consent form (valid for 6 months).
   2. Medical Release Form to allow for medical review of the donation for eligibility.
   3. Donor Risk Assessment Questionnaire (good for 14 days)
2. Blood Tubes
   1. During intake nurses will place an Intravenous (IV) line to give fluids and collect blood for basic labs during your stay. If you choose to donate, nurses will draw extra blood tubes for additional testing at the time of IV placement.
